When we say we put the planet first, we mean it.

Vishen and the Achuar people of Ecuador

On our list of priorities, the planet comes first. Next up is our customers, and then our employees. Profits come last. That’s why we’re always looking for high-impact ways to contribute and disrupt the status quo. Mindvalley style.

We fund and volunteer our time with a diverse group of international and grassroots charities who share the same vision as us: to empower people and communities to change the world in their own unique ways.

Here are some of the things we’ve been up to:

Giving back with Awesomeness Fest.

Awesomeness Fest Costa Rica, 2010.

From 2011 onwards, we’re donating 100% of ticket sale and donation profits from our flagship annual event, Awesomeness Fest, to a handpicked group of charities and NGOs.

Awesomeness Fest is an event that brings together people who are driven to change the world. Every year our tribe, made up of entrepreneurs, authors, speakers, artists and philanthropists, gets together on a paradise island to learn, connect, have fun and share the most impactful ways to give back.

This year we’ve chosen two main beneficiaries to support:

The Pachamama Alliance

Led by award-winning philanthropist Lynne Twist, the Pachamama Alliance strives to preserve over 8 million acres of Amazonian rainforest in Ecuador. They do this by working closely with the indigenous Achuar tribe, empowering them to preserve their own land and culture. Using this strategy they’ve saved millions of acres of rainforest, and successfully lobbied the Ecuadorian government to become the first country in the world to add a Right of Nature to their constitution.

We’ve joined Lynne on missions into the rainforest to engage with its people, and we’re deeply inspired by her vision and resourcefulness for this incredibly important cause.

Shine on Sierra Leone

Shine on Sierra Leone is an organization led by United Nations Woman of the World Tiffany Persons. Their mission is to introduce groundbreaking education, healthcare, micro-financing, sustainable building and agriculture programs to communities in Sierra Leone.

In just 5 years they’ve helped local women set up 3,500 businesses, trained 6,000 people to be computer literate, and built 3 community buildings using the groundbreaking Earthbag Technique that dramatically reduces building costs while improving structural longevity. Tiffany’s moto is “we are all meant to shine, thrive, evolve,” and we couldn’t agree more.

Empowering Kenyan communities.

Greetings from Kenya.

We’re in love with The Unstoppable Foundation and its founder Cynthia Kersey. Since 1999, they’ve raised over $1 million to build homes and schools in Kenyan communities.

When we visited one of these communities with Cynthia, the smiling faces that greeted us spoke volumes for this organization’s impact. They’ve given women a new sense of purpose. Helped kids move towards their dreams of becoming doctors and engineers. Reinvigorated communities with the promise of a better future.

We’re supporting the Unstoppable Foundation through regular donations.

Creating a Happy Space for Burmese refugees.

Creating a Happy Space.

We believe it’s awesome when our own employees take the initiative to give back–and that’s exactly what happened when we founded Creating a Happy Space, a volunteer group that works with Burmese refugees in Kuala Lumpur.

Like its name suggests, Creating a Happy Space is all about giving these refugee children a space to play, learn, laugh, and be happy. Since 2008 they’ve organized a variety of activities and art workshops at our HQ. Today, we’re happy to continue our efforts by contributing funds and resources to keep the initiative going.
